Born in the Viennese periphery, Martin Brem began his musical career at the age of 10 at a classical boys choir and later on as a professional musician and singer.
He left Austria in 1983 to work as an editor and journalist for MusikExpress/SOUNDS in Munich, subsequently founded his own content agency BITE (Bild & Text), when he was then asked in 1989 to join the Philip Morris subsidiary IDE/International Design and Entertainment as an A&R/Marketing Manager for both the in-house music label and music publishing unit. In the early 90’s Martin held the post as Marketing Director at Phonogram/Mercury Records in Hamburg and moved to London 1995 as Vice President International Marketing for Sony Music Entertainment Europe. In 1997, Brem took on the Managing Director position for Columbia Records and Sony Classical. 2001 he took a sabbatical after the sudden death of his wife and developed the Japanese inspired fashion and lifestyle brand SAI SO. After selling the brand in 2007, Martin worked as managing partner of a brand consultancy firm in Berlin. In 2012, Martin joined Red Bull Media House, building a catalog of music rights and developing platforms and technology to innovate along the value chain of music copyrights.
