"There has been music around for thousands of years, and most of it was produced and rehearsed without artificial intelligence. And there will always be music without artificial intelligence." – In this video interview, Matthias Strobel from MusicTech Germany, looks at the role of AI in music creation.

Throughout the conversation, Strobel offers thought-provoking points. He emphasizes that AI, while currently hyped, is merely a tool that can augment the music creation process but is not essential for producing successful music. He debunks the myth that AI automatically enhances music quality, stressing instead that it could make music more accessible and streamlined within the industry.

Moreover, Strobel discusses the potential influence of AI on recommendation systems and how it could impact genre production and artist visibility: "I mean it influences the recommendation systems for music, the content that people get them recommended on different services. And it will also probably influence the way music is produced for some sort of genres."

Despite AI's growing presence, he reassures that traditional music forms will persist and highlights how AI can be leveraged to foster sustainability and new revenue streams for artists.

Strobel, who has a rich background in supporting music tech startups and integrating technology in the arts, approaches the subject with a well-informed perspective. His work with MusicTech Germany and vast experience in the intersection of music and technology provide him with unique insights into the evolving landscape of music production.

If you want to gain a balanced view of AI's potential without succumbing to the current hype, we recommend watching the full interview.
